Winifred Nicholson Wild Flower Window-Sill
Another nice painting for you this week, folks! I’ve gotten back into painting after seeing the incredible Jennifer Packer at Serpentine and Michael Armitage at the RA. Who saw this coming?! Good ole Winifred Nicholson is so reliable. It seems like she’s gone in with such a light touch on the canvas, it almost doesn’t look like heavy oil paint at all. I love this so much - it’s light, dreamy, sweet and peaceful.
Collecting little wild flowers and putting them in jars and glasses to paint is so wholesome and cute! I feel like Winifred would have been one of those lovely kind people who remembered every little thing you tell her even if it’s real boring, like the name of your third cousin and what you had for dinner three weeks ago. She also probably made homemade jam. I should get myself flowers as a treat more!
The weather has gotten shit again and it feels like summer is over!! Devastated is not even the word, I am SHOCKED. Two weeks of sun and this Irish gal forgot what rain is. I hate having to bring an umbrella with me. It feels so pessimistic and it means I need to bring a big handbag out all the time which is a literal and figurative drag. Over. It.
Congrats you’ve made it to the end! Todah Rabah.
