Claude Monet Coquelicots 1873
It’s about time I gave you some good, wholesome impressionism, isn’t it?! Big shout out to the main man Monet. Impressionism is all about being outside, giving natures it’s dues, painting movement, light and life. It captures the true energy of a moment rather than the perfect details of a realistic, picture-perfect painting.
I love this poppy field because it reminds me of that scene from The Wizard of Oz where Dorothy falls asleep amongst poisonous poppies. Bit of a dark twist but not to worry, the lads here look fully awake. I like the colours and the movement of the grass on the bottom right hand corner - I can almost feel the light breeze. This is just a lovely, lovely painting. That’s about all I have to say about most impressionist works to be honest but hey, sometimes that’s all you need from a work of art. LOVELY STUFF.
This is the first email that you’ll get a follow up from me. Last week (five minutes ago, for me) I wrote about being a petty cow and messaging a nail salon angrily about being charged a cancellation fee. Right after I scheduled that email, the manager of the salon rang me, explained their policy to me and said she would refund me anyway. She was very nice. So now… I think I’m the worst person in the world. I am cancelled. Officially.
Congrats you’ve made it to the end! Todah Rabah.
