Anni Albers Intersecting 1962
I love textile artwork so much. I was blown away by this big Anni Albers exhibition I saw a few years ago - I stayed for hours and kept wanting to touch things. As well as the incredibly beautiful colours, textures and geometry of Albers’ work you can really see the time that goes into something like this. Each woven line has been patiently added, built up over time. In the same way that the brushstrokes of abstract expressionists can look fast and urgent, this comes across as slow and meditative. It’s soothing and careful.
I’ve once again become obsessed with fancy interiors and watching those AD videos of famous people showing you around their houses. It’s nice but it’s also very depressing because it’s extremely unachievable and my main takeaway from the videos is ‘I Want That’. Every now and then you get to judge someone rich on having bad taste and that’s fun too. Anyway, what I’m getting at really is that one day I will be spending money on rugs to hang on a wall and you can’t look at me weirdly or tell me it should go on the ground because it’s ART. And some rugs are too good to walk on.
Happy 30th week of Fizzy Milk. Lots of my friends have been turning 30 this year and it feels like a real moment. I’ll be 30 on my next birthday which isn’t really great to hear to be honest because mentally I’m somewhere between 16 and 23. Being 30 sounds like I should know more about what I’m doing. I should probably have a driver’s licence or know to have a glass of water between drinks on a night out. The weddings and the babies are exciting and all but I still find it very funny. Is everyone not just making up all the adult stuff as we go along!?!
Congrats you’ve made it to the end! Todah Rabah.
