Lubaina Himid, Le Rodeur: The Exchange, 2016
Right at this stage, you know how much I love a good painting. This one is good because it’s nice and flat. The weird eerie building/landscape reminds me of some of the surrealists. I like the sea view out the window, it looks stormy outside, which adds to the general sense of unease.
The interaction between characters is really strange and I love it. Why is the pigeon head person holding that man back from taking the ribbon from that person in the pink?! Why is the man in green trying to avoid any involvement in this action? Feels like there’s some sort of beef going on. I like it because it feels like I’m people watching, you don’t get the full picture but you ARE intrigued. Yes please, more of this.
It’s been raining a lot and I once again have to battle with my hatred of umbrellas. I understand that they’re practical and keep you dry but I don’t enjoy carrying things in general. Me, I’m a hands free kind of gal. Don’t even get me started about when they flip inside out at even a hint of wind. They are so annoying and I won’t use them unless I really, really have to. I’d just prefer if it didn’t rain, thanks.
Congrats you’ve made it to the end! Todah Rabah.
